The Crystal Palace is a beautiful glasshouse in Retiro Park in the Spanish capital Madrid which was built in 1887. Where once it housed exotic plant life, it is now a contemporary art space, part of the large Reina Sofia Museum, also in the city.
Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster (Strasbourg, France, 1965) takes the visitor on journey using the distinctive appropriation and positioning of objects to evoke ideas about the literary history of a certain time, i.e. in this case the 19th century when the Palace was built.
